Meet Our Personal Trainer: Cameron!
My name is Cameron McKeown and I am a personal trainer here at the YMCA. My journey into fitness began over 10 years ago at 13 years old after recovering from breaking both wrists. During that time, daily tasks were a lot harder, and I started to value strength and general health. I began weight training and gradually learning the process of what my body best responded to. This later became my passion of study as I entered college. Into my final year, I joined my first powerlifting competition when I met a group of friends in my classes that got me into the sport. Since then, I now compete in the USA Powerlifting and Metal Milita Federations.
My journey here at the YMCA started in May 2022, as an intern where I trained members and staff as well as hosted our first “Strength in Numbers” powerlifting competition due to the public interest in the sport. I have my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University, my personal training certification from the American College of Sports Medicine, as well as my Exercise Oncology Instructor certification from Maple Tree Cancer Alliance. Through my experience and education, I provide safe modern evidence-based practice methods in training for health and performance goals for people of all backgrounds and needs.

- Certifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certified Personal Trainer, and Maple Tree Cancer Alliance (MTCA) Certified Exercise Oncology Instructor
- Specialized Areas: Free Weights and Strength Training, Injury Prevention and Rehab, Exercise Technique, and Adaptive Exercise for Health Risks
- Primary Client Type: Senior, Adult, and Youth Female and Male Clients including Strength Athletes (Ages 16+), Musculoskeletal Injuries (Ages 16+), and Women who are Pregnant
- Main Availability: Early Mornings Monday-Saturday
