What are our Weight Loss Programs?

These 10-Week Weight Loss Programs will be held quarterly. The Weight Loss Program is designed to help people seeking a heathier weight achieve their goals by making small, modest changes to their daily behaviors. The programs help participants build skills for successful lifestyle changes as opposed to advocating any specific or restrictive short-term solutions.

Tammy Cowden-Maloney – Downtown Y Branch

Tammy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics followed with a certification by NASM as a Nutrition Coach. Most recently she completed a certification with the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists as a Lifestyle Coach. Her passion is helping people realize the power of good nutrition and how a healthy diet increases energy levels, restores ideal body weight, and even preserves the environment. Tammy’s Y career began in Nashville, TN and she used to manage our Y Cochranton Branch! Tammy is thrilled to come home to her roots and join up with the Meadville Y again as she has been with us for over 13 years!

Better Your Fitness- Lose the Weight (April 23rd-July1st)

Welcome to the Meadville Y’s Spring Fitness Challenge! As the world wakes up from winter, it’s the perfect time to energize your body and embrace the new season. For the next 10 weeks, you’ll be taking on exciting fitness tasks, participating in fun activities, and attending educational classes. This is your chance to refresh your routine, set new goals, and connect with others on their fitness journeys.

Let’s harness the spirit of spring renewal and make the most of this challenge together! Are there specific fitness goals or areas you’d like to focus on during this challenge? 💪🌷

Strength Training

To gain strength, you should do strength training exercises for all major muscle groups at least 2x a week. The “sweet spot” of strength training is somewhere between 2 and 3 times per week. Know that muscle burns more calories than fat.

Cardiovascular Training

Get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity (or a combination of both) preferably spread throughout the week.

Nutrition

Food tracking can help you identify your healthy habits, such as choosing nutritious snacks, and habits that need improving, such as drinking too many sugary drinks. Think about your health goals. Lose weight? Cut back on sodium? Reduce your cholesterol or blood pressure? Write down your goals.

  • Be held accountable

For this 10-week challenge / program to work for you, we need to work together! We will meet weekly and go over your workouts, your nutrition, and go over any speed bumps you may have encountered.  We are a team.
