Swim Lessons

All swim lessons run on a six week session.

The next session begins the week of September 12th!

Aqua Babies (6 months to 3 years)

Cost: Included in YMCA membership; Non-YMCA $28

Activities that allow children to get use to become comfortable while feeling safe, with a parent in the water. Children learn basic movements like kicking, stroking with the arms, and getting use to having their faces near or in the water. these basics build the foundation for later swimming techniques.

Saturday 11:45am - 12:15pm

PROGRESSIVE LESSONS

The YMCA uses instructional aids that assist the children to float.  The floats are decreases and the students ability and confidence increases.

As students progress throught each level they will recieve a ribbon for the level they complete.


Preschool (ages 3 to 5 years)

Cost: $17 YMCA Members     $32 Nonmembers

PIKE - Students have little or no experience.  They learn skills like blowing bubbles, floating, and paddling.

Monday 5:00 - 5:30 pm, Tuesday 10:50-11:20 am,

Thursday 10:50-11:20 am, and Saturday 9:45-10:15am

EEL - For those that have mastered the Pike level.  They are comfortable jumping in the pool unassisted and paddling 5 feet on their front back and side 5 feet.

Monday 5:00-5:30 pm, Tuesday 10:50-11:20 am,

Thursday 10:50-11:20 am, and Saturday 9:45-10:15 am

RAY - For those who have mastered the Eel level. They are comfortable swimming 15 feet on thier front back and side unassisted, and ready to learn the foundations of backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke.

Monday 5:30-6:00 pm and Saturday 10:30-11:00 am

STARFISH - For those who have mastered the Ray Level.  They are comfortable swimming 20 feet on their front back and side.  This is for the advanced preschool swimmer working on developing good techniques for strokes and dives.

Monday 5:30-6:00 pm and Saturday 10:30-11:00 am

YOUTH (ages 6-12)

Cost: $23 YMCA Members   $43 Non-YMCA Members

Polliwog (Level I)

Children will learn to paddle on the front, back, and side for a length of the pool with a floatation device and for a width of the pool without the floatation device.

Mondays 6:00 - 6:45pm
Saturdays 9 - 9:45am

Guppy (Level II)

Children will learn front, back, and side alternating paddle stroke; swim a length of the pool using front and back symmetrical paddle stroke.

Mondays 6:00 - 6:45pm
Saturdays 11:00 - 11:45am

Minnow (Level III)

Children learn breaststroke; sidestroke with scissor kick; backstroke with flutter kick.

Monday 7:00-7:45pm, Wednesday 7:00 - 7:45pm, and Saturdays 11:00 - 11:45am

Fish (Level IV)

Children will swim front crawl with rotary breathing; breaststroke with a pull, kick, and glide; elementary backstroke with a glide.

Wednesdays  7:00-7:45pm

Flying Fish (Level V)

Children will swim the crawl stroke, breaststroke and back crawl for 100 yards with open turns; swim the butterfly 50 yards with fins and 25 yards without.

Wednesdays 7:00 - 7:45pm


Adult Lessons (ages 13 and up)

Cost: $22 Members                  $42 Non YMCA Members

Our adult lessons are individualized according the goals set by each participant, the first day.

BIGINNER

This is geared to your personal goals whether it is to get over your fear of the water, gain confidence, learn to float and swim.

Nothing else is in the pool during this time.

Wednesdays 7:45 - 8:30pm

STROKE WORK

Class includes drills, instruction to improve stroke techniques, and learn other strokes.  Ideal for fitness swimmers and triathletes who want to become more efficient.

Mondays 7:00 - 7:45pm

CONDITIONING

Class includes workouts to increase your speed, endurance, and efficiency.  Ideal for the fitness swimmer and triathletes.
